It Contains Hard Parts – OuDance Festival
Beatrix works with an international team to explore these questions in the production through dance and — as characteristic of her earlier works — the use of interdisciplinary arts. The music composed by Ábris Gryllus, as well as the visual design, play important roles. The set design is by Dániel Dömölky, and the costumes are created by the duo Adél Kovács and Luca Batke.
Simkó Beatrix studied media at the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design and performance at the University of Hamburg. She has been an active figure in the contemporary dance scene for over ten years and, in the past six years, has worked on numerous international co-productions both abroad and in Hungary. In addition to a strong presence in Germany, her works have been presented across Europe, from Belgium to Finland. Her joint performance with Jenna Jalonen, Long time no see!, was selected for the Avignon Festival program and included in the Aerowaves network. Her duet with Zoltán Grecsó, #Orfeusz#Eurüdiké, was part of the Vígszínház repertoire for five seasons. She has also choreographed for the Central European Dance Theatre and the Csokonai Theatre in Debrecen. She works closely with the Műhely Foundation, which is also a production partner in her Germany-related projects.
The performance is a German-Hungarian collaboration, realized with the support of the Goethe-Institut’s International Coproduction Fund, which is awarded annually to ten artists worldwide.
The Hungarian premiere was supported by the Imre Zoltán Program.
