A moment to take a pause, reflect and think about the methods we use, the way we work and interact. A team of international producers and touring agents launch a discussion on cross-border collaborations in an informal setting.

Saturday Producers is an initiative promoting networking and mutual support within the creative producers sector in Greece, organized and coordinated by Katerina Kourti and Christina Papadaki. A team of production managers and/or artists from Athens, meet the first Saturday of every month at different art spaces, turn on their laptops and work together for three hours. During the meetings, the participants can discuss problems and issues they might be facing in their practice, ask questions and propose solutions. For the first time the meeting will be held in English and it will be focused on international connectivity, mobility and tour management.

Facilitators:
Zeynep Demir – Producer – Istanbul Fringe Festival – Turkey
Brigitta Kovács – Producer / Agent – Hungary
Nikos Mavrakis – Managing Director – TooFarEast – Greece

Backstage Club

Backstage Club is an international workshop series tackling key aspects of international collaborations, such as: fair practices taking into account the different cultural and socio-political contexts; cross-border collaborations in time of environmental crisis; diversity aspects. The event series is open to artists and cultural professionals locally and internationally as well. It aims to foster knowledge sharing by involving key experts in the field as workshop holders, initiate collaborative thinking among the participants on the topics and improve awareness of cultural professionals and artists to international opportunities (such as funding and partnership development). The Backstage Club is an initiative of the Creative Europe funded program NextStage, which offers an international incubation program for a new generation of managers, who can collaborate with more experienced colleagues to create safe spaces and sustainable career paths for emerging and mid-career artists. It aims to strengthen the resilience of micro-organisations and associated artists, and hence contributes to generating job growth and improving the economic competitiveness of the sector.

The first Backstage Club will take place in April 2024 in Athens-Greece, with two more to follow in 2024 and 2025 in Dusseldorf-Germany and Budapest-Hungary respectively.

Backstage Club is part of NextStage, a Creative Europe funded program, organised by TooFarEast [GR], Workshop Foundation [HU] and Kompliz:innen [DE].
